Geographic Abstraction Series

This new body of extra large paintings is entitled “Geographic Abstraction” and is culled from maps, charts, and geographic atlases. The works are sculpted rather than painted with layers of paint built up and applied with palette knives representing the physicality of land and water. They are created using silver, copper, and gold acrylic iridescent paint. In not using traditional colors to interpret the subject matter, I have divorced the works from traditional geographic depictions.
